Ernesto Neto, Humanoids Family, 2001

Alone, together… This very of-the-moment installation is by the Brazilian conceptual artist Ernesto Neto, who has devoted his career to exploring the “constructions of social space and the natural world by inviting physical interaction and sensory experience”, in the words of Tanya Bonakdar Gallery. Neto uses organic shapes (as per these biomorphic body suits) and materials (think: spices, sand and shells) to engage the five human senses in his work, with the aim of sparking a “new type of sensory perception” among his audience.
