How has a simple item of clothing created such a buzz? The Snap Cardigan, made by French designer Agnès B. and now reaching its fortieth birthday, is about to be celebrated in a New York exhibition at 195 Chrystie Street. Household names such as David Lynch, Juergen Teller and Annette Messager have all been invited to photograph the item in their own style. “It pays homage the the original exhibition held at Agnès B.’s Galerie du Jour in Paris as part of Mois de la Photo in 1986, where 140 photographers originally contributed to the exhibition,” says the brand, “then after much acclaim, the exhibition was held at the Centre Pompidou in 1996.”
