Katsuji Fukuda, The Art of Colour and Light, 1951

A little Thursday cheer, courtesy of the late Japanese photographer Katsuji Fukuda, known for his whimsical still lifes and nude portraiture. Fukuda was an early pioneer of colour photography, and this smiley-faced set-up featured in his 1951 book The Art of Colour and Light, in which he made a beguiling case for both qualities and their importance within image-making—with a little help from some fruity friends.
