Alain Fleischer, Dans le Cadre du Miroir, 1984

Sunday reflection à la the French photographer, artist and filmmaker Alain Fleischer. As demonstrated here, much of Fleischer’s photographic practice centres around mirrors and their potential to both skew and strengthen the composition of an image. This spellbinding set-up sees a female figure holding up a reflective frame to the face of classical statue. The positioning is such that the sculpture’s features merge perfectly with her own, creating multiple planes within a single picture and playfully toying with the viewer’s grasp on reality.
