Alécio de Andrade, Musée du Louvre, Paris, 1992

It’s International Museum Day, day dedicated to the appreciation of museums and galleries, big and small! This heart-warming image of a woman and child looking at paintings in the Louvre Museum was taken by the Brazilian photographer and poet Alécio de Andrade in 1992. It is one in a decade-spanning series of photographs snapped by de Andrade within the storied walls of the Paris art institution, capturing visitors’ joy, wonder, tiredness, silliness and the many other emotions that interacting with art can evoke.
