When it comes to beautiful walling, Portuguese Azulejo tiles are hard to beat. And these particular examples, which decorate the courtyard of The Palace of Sintra in the Lisbon district, are no exception. The palace’s magnificent structure is the product of endless transformation, having been added to and adapted over many centuries—it most likely dates back to the tenth or eleventh century, when Sintra was under Moorish rule.
