What does Bill Gates have in common with wild swimming? Who knows, eh. Well, photographer Allan Sekula does, as manifested in this charming snapshot and its baffling title. The image is part of a new show of the late artist’s work at Marian Goodman Gallery in London, which draws together pieces from throughout his practice, including photography, film and criticism. The artist’s early inspirations drew from Marxist theory; later he looked to his Californian surrounds and the idea of conceptual photography that wanted to erase human presence “by taking charge of the medium’s vernacular uses”. The exhibition runs until 18 May.
