Last night, London’s TJ Boulting opened a new show themed around birth, curated by Elephant’s longtime editor at large Charlotte Jansen. The exhibition brings together images which focus on birth, abortion, bodies, fluids, joy, pain and everything else that comes with this experience. Jansen has committed herself to breaking the taboo around images of childbirth, writing extensively about the subject, and exploring the raw and honest works of artist such as Carmen Winant, Tracey Emin and more. The show includes works by artists whose practices centre around the underrepresented subject, as well as images by artists including Maisie Cousins and Juno Calypso who are investigating this experience anew. Running until 9 November.
