André Soares, Raio Palace, Braga, Portugal, 1754

House of dreams… This beautifully ornate palace is situated in Braga, Portugal, and was built in the late Baroque style by architect André Soares in 1754. It was the private home of João Duarte de Faria, a merchant and member of the Knights Templar. Most of its decorative façade is covered in traditional blue-and-white azulejo tiling that juxtaposes perfectly with the rest of its pale, sandstone detailing. This particularly pleasing picture was taken in 2018 by photographer Inês Mota.
