Some end of summer serenity, courtesy of British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist Andy Goldsworthy. As evidenced here, Goldsworthy makes poetic outdoor sculptures from natural matter—in this case, fiery red maple leaves—and documents their gradual disintegration as nature reclaims them, resulting in a powerful meditation on the passing of time. To quote the artist himself, “It’s not about art. It’s just about life and the need to understand that a lot of things in life do not last.”
