Anthea Hamilton, Nuba Butterfly Under Tartan Scramble

You might have an unexpected gut reaction when you step inside the spectacular, historic gallery Secession in Vienna, where Anthea Hamilton has taken over, covering floor to ceiling with a dazzling, kaleidoscopic pattern. In a sculptural and photographic installation that will disorient the viewer with a mash-up of personal, found and computer-generated photos, Hamilton’s latest “performative space”, is inspired by the possibility of experiencing bodily responses to images and ideas—as outlined by the French writer Antonin Artaud.
