This sculpture lies in the grounds of PARK3020 near Lviv, Ukraine’s first contemporary sculpture park, dedicated showcasing the work of modern Ukrainian artists. It’s a site specific piece, created by Rozdilna-born artist Anton Logov, and is titled Trees of Lives. “This work is about love and mercy, peace and harmony, traditions and constant development,” Logov has explained of the sculpture. It draws on his childhood memories of the “mighty winged oaks” of the Odesa region—here shown as an irrepressible life force, breaking free of a roof-like structure. The sculpture’s title, meanwhile, hints at a biblical interpretation, the parks website explains; namely “the knowledge of good through good”.
