Bambou Gili, Distance of the Moon, 2020

A soothing scene from Brooklyn-based artist Bambou Gili to bring the working week to a close. Gili’s eye-catching paintings often depict scenes of solitude, grief and/or longing, rendered in inky subaqueous hues, and frequently injected with moments of humour and whimsy. In this instance, however, the set-up is a little more simple: a contented lone reader sits in bed, engaged in the pages of her book as she reads by the light of the moon. Happy Friday!
