Bénédicte Kurzen & Sanne De Wilde, Land of Ibeji

Did you know that West Africa’s Yorubaland has the highest instance of twins in the world? The phenomenon is explored in a new collaborative exhibition at TJ Boulting by photographers Bénédicte Kurzen & Sanne De Wilde, who convey the mythological nature of twin births in an array of stunning images. The portraits range from intimate snapshots of entwined body parts, to distinct double exposures that seem to fuse both individuals together, all of which are presented against glorious blocks of colour and illusions of celebratory festivities, conveyed through tinsel curtains and a smattering of glitter confetti.
