Blondey (not to be confused with Blondie) is one of those envy-invoking kids who at just twenty-two is already a successful clothing designer, skateboarder and artist, with his first London show currently on at London’s Ronchini Gallery. Entitled Blondey: Stella Populis, the show includes photography, digital illustration and installation, all relating to themes that merge religion with pop culture in an attempt to show the relationship between the two apparently opposing entities. Like many of us, Blondey seems to be fascinated by both Princess Diana and those stories that pop up every so often about people seeing faces (usually Jesus) in a slice of toast. Here, though, Jesus becomes a bread-faced Rihanna. Created by laser etching directly onto toast, the piece is one of a series of twenty-five, with others depicting footballers, Disney and the Kardashians—all Christ-like figures to many. The exhibition is on until 31 August.
