Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, Forest House, 1973 – 1975

This woodland dwelling is a firm Instagram favourite. And with good reason, thanks to its verdant location, elegant geometry and extremely enviable, industrially-glazed windows. It was built by the architecture firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson as a forest retreat for the parents of partner Peter Bohlin, and was completed in 1975. The exterior is made from green-stained wood, so as to blend harmoniously with its setting, and it hovers on concrete piers so as not to disrupt the bolder-strewn Connecticut landscape upon which it lies. Simply sublime.
