A topsy turvy start to Friday à la Belgium-German scientist-turned-artist Carsten Höller who conjured up this “Upside Down Mushroom Room” for Fondazione Prada in 2000, offering children and adults alike the chance to feel as if they’d entered Alice’s Wonderland. The giant-funghi-filled space is typical of Höller’s immersive approach: his participatory installations invite visitors to question their preconceived notions of reality and perception, calling on them to “examine themselves”, the artist himself has explained.
