Cassi Namoda, Sasha and Zamani’s Fruitful Earth, 2019

A canty cockerel and spring hues: this sumptuous painting by Mozambique-born, US-based artist Cassi Namoda makes for ideal Easter Monday viewing. The piece featured in Namoda’s recent London exhibition, Little Is Enough for Those in Love, at Pippy Houldsworth gallery, a series of paintings depicting love, leisure and daily life in the capital city of Maputo where she was born. Namoda‘s gestural work brims with narrative suggestion: “If you are attuned to life, then anything can become a source of inspiration or a story to tell,” she recently told Elephant.
