A reminder to indulge in some self-care this week, with a little help from this excellent watercolour by London-based artist Cecilia Reeve. The piece features in an online exhibition supporting “emerging female artists as they challenge the constrictions of gender expectation”, writes Madeleine Pollard for Elephant. “Bathrooms are a recurring theme,” she expands, “replacing the kitchen as the stereotypical domestic arena in which femininity plays out.” Reeve’s relaxing work shows a woman bathing from a first-person perspective piece, à la Luchita Hurtado, “the swirls of shimmering bath water [capturing] the soporific release of a good soak.” See the other artworks from the show, and read more about it, here.
