A beautiful view of the newly unveiled Christo and Jeanne-Claude project, L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped, posted by Sophie Pinet. The artist duo conceived the idea for the artwork—swathing the iconic Parisian monument in 25,000 square metres of shimmering silver fabric, fastened by 3,000 metres of red rope—in 1961, but it was only developed by Christo in 2017, eight years after his partner’s death and three years before his own. The intention, Christo said, was to transform the arch into a tactile “living object which will move in the wind and reflect the light”. Completed last week, the work will remain in situ for 16 days in total so catch it while you can.
