The countdown to International Women’s Day is on, and what better way to mark the annual event than by celebrating the work of brilliant women artists, like this covetable piece by Clementine Keith-Roach? The British set-designer-turned-artist started making her distinctive anthropomorphic ceramics when she became pregnant with her first child, while living in Athens. She had been casting her own changing breasts, more out of interest than anything else, and was thereafter inspired by her ancient surroundings to mould the casts onto aged terracotta pots. The resulting, trompe l’oeil painted works are, she says, an exploration of the vessel as a universal symbol for the female body—and we can’t get enough of them.
