End of the week elation, as captured by Dana Scruggs in this beautiful image for Chromat’s spring/summer 2018 lookbook. The Chicago-born photographer is celebrated for her unique mastery of light and movement, evident throughout her dynamic portraiture. Scruggs’ early work focussed on the Black male form, her aim being to “change the narrative of fearfulness” surrounding Black men in America, as she explained in an interview with the British Journal of Photography. Today, she continues to use her medium to “redress myopic depictions of the Black experience” across the gender spectrum—in both her personal and commercial output—to powerful, uplifting effect.
