Sundays are for making shapes, as per the protagonist of this striking shoot, conceived by Nigerian stylist, photographer and art director Daniel Obasi for Atmos magazine’s fifth issue, “Hive”. In his own words, Obasi’s richly layered works “birth a certain idealism towards Afrocentric concepts; whimsical, soft yet powerfully contrasting with sharp silhouettes, colours and stories”. Inspired by old films and Afrofuturism, the 23-year-old says his chief concern is “advancing the scope of African narratives”. And he is doing so with undeniable style.
