The late Dea Trier Mørch (1941-2001) was a Danish feminist writer, known in Denmark for her 1976 novel Vinterbørn, (Winters Child) for which she produced a series of linocuts based on images on a maternity ward. This explosive series that begins with the start of life, from a woman’s perspective, is now on view for the first time at the Louisiana in Denmark. The exhibition presents a radically inventive approach; one that embraces taboo topics such as childbirth and includes socioeconomic portraits of labourers, creating an interconnected image of the human condition from birth to death.
