Eniwaye Seyi, Yellow Blossom, 2021

Sentimental Sundays… This affectionate scene is the handiwork of self taught, Nigerian-born artist Eniwaye Seyi, who creates stirring figurative paintings in bold, impressionistic strokes. Influenced by what Unit London describes as “societal and political injustice, racial conflict and pressure of living a modern life”, Seyi applies a mixture of oil, charcoal and acrylic on canvas to realise his vibrant works. “I try to combine unusual mediums to show I go beyond the borders of religion, race and tradition”, he says. And the effect is both unique and universal.
