Happy birthday Etel Adnan! The Beirut-born poet and writer, who turns ninety-four today, first came to prominence as a visual artist following her inclusion in Documenta 13 in 2012, but first turned to the form as a means of expression when she was in her thirties. She incorporates abstract motifs with pure colour, exploring issues of language, landscape and exile. A new exhibition of her prints opens at Alan Cristea on 28 February, until 30 March.
