A new exhibition opens today at Almine Rech in New York, featuring the colourful paintings of Belgian-born Farah Atassi. Now based in Paris, she portrays the female nude in geometric shapes, breaking down the body into near-abstraction. A chorus of boxes, perfect circles, and triangles dress the canvas that form backdrops, or “stages,” as she calls them, evoking everyone from Malevich to Missoni.
