Who else enjoys winter window gazing, à la these observant ovine sculptures by the late French artist François-Xavier Lalanne? Lalanne made Mouton de Laine, Un Troupeau de 24 Moutons, or “a flock of 24 sheep”, in 1965. The original group was made up of eight standing sheep and 16 grazing sheep. These were placed at the entrance of the Salon de la Jeune Peinture in Paris in 1965, where their creator was photographed sitting on top of them—resulting in the flock’s instant fame. Many more sheep sculptures would follow, including these wooly watchers, posted by @beau_traps.
