Lining up the cocktails for our Friday night Zoom sessions… This atmospheric shot was taken by American artist Frank Majore, a key figure in the early 1980s New York art scene. Majore’s photographs betray a fascination with what critic Andy Grunberg terms the language of “fashion and romance, as well as its reliance on a kind of aborted, proto-filmic narrative”—and there’s no denying that there’s something distinctly Lynchian about this low-lit combination of reclining legs, neatly arranged drinks and the mysterious bust of Nefertiti, gazing out of the window.
