Gina Pane, Action Psyché, 1973/74

Continuing its twelve-month period of showing only female artists—titled 100% Women—Richard Saltoun gallery in London is opening Action Psyché, an exhibition of Gina Pane, who was instrumental in the body art movement. Her body was her main tool throughout her practice, and up until her death in 1990. Her former Parisian gallery, Galerie Rodolphe Stadler, has provided works for the show from its archive, and the gallery itself was known for supporting radical art and artists. “If I open my ‘body’ so that you can see your blood therein,” said the artist, “it is for the love of you: the Other.”
