American artist Hank Willis Thomas is known for his politically outspoken conceptual work. Coming from a photographic background, he often deals with issues of representation, identity, ownership and conflict. Recently he has turned to quilting to draw these ideas together with sports and the Fante tradition of Asafo flags. We spoke with Thomas as he opened his first UK show at Ben Brown Fine Arts: The Beautiful Game.
