Henry Moore, Large Two Forms, 1966

“Everything I do, I intend to make on a large scale,” said Henry Moore, the revered pioneer of modern British sculpture. “Size itself has its own impact, and physically we can relate ourselves more strongly to a big sculpture than to a small one.” As such, it was Moore’s intention that his monumental works be viewed up close, and ideally interacted with, to maximise their impact on the viewer. This bold, two-part piece in bronze, for instance, appears entirely different depending on what angle you view it from, so being able to observe it in the round is integral. Thankfully, it’s situated in the lush environs of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where visitors can do just that.
