Honey Long and Prue Stent, Banana Slug, 2018

Ready for some weekend wallowing? Us too! This swathed bather comes courtesy of Australian artist duo Honey Long and Prue Stent, whose work traverses the boundaries between photography, performance, installation and sculpture. Their practice centres predominantly on the nude female figure, frequently adorned with fabric, natural objects or tactile props, to reflect the pair’s “conflicted relationship to femininity and its passive associations”, in the words of their gallery, Fahey/Klein. These “costumes or disguises” are intended to “distort and fragment the bodily form”, and the results are by turns alluring and playful, disruptive and dreamlike.
