Saturday reflection… This graceful figure is the work of Paris-born artist Inès Di Folco, whose oneiric practice comprises mainly of figurative scenes that evoke a sense of “sadness [that goes] hand in hand with daydreaming”, in the artist’s own words. This piece, La Poétesse, featured in the latest iteration of Drawing a Blank, an exhibition series aimed at democratising the gallery space for emerging artists and young audiences alike. The latest show, held at what was formerly The Parasol Unit in Shoreditch, was the first iteration to take place in a white cube space—a big leap for series curator Ben Broome and the exhibiting artists.
