Happy 84th birthday to the one and only David Hockney! Here he is in his studio, in Montcalm, Los Angeles, in a wonderful photograph by the American photographer Jim McHugh, taken in 1983. Decked in a vertically striped red shirt and horizontally striped tie, the famously snappy dresser stands alongside a fragmented self-portrait featuring the very same outfit, and Hockney’s signature round spectacles.
