Today, Salone del Mobile would have opened the doors of its sixtieth edition, now postponed until April 2021. To mark the occasion, we bring you this excellent photograph of two visitors to the 1970 iteration of the Milan furniture fair, sitting beside an installation by the Italian architect trio Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi. Why the enormous size, you ask? The collaborators were avid members of the whimsical Radical Design movement, which championed the idea of taking mundane objects and exaggerating their proportions to an eye-popping degree.
