The first exhibition at Casa Loewe, showing at the brand’s new London flagship store (until 6 October) features work by Missouri-born, San Francisco-based art Josh Faught. The artist, whose practice is embedded in traditional craft such as crocheting and weaving, has recreated a slice of Aids activist and playwright Larry Kramer’s former home and interspersed it with textile works that point to key moments in queer activism, as well as objects and ephemera that represent different communities. For example, Off-Nite references the Hobby Directory—a pre-Stonewall zine, which allowed men to connect with each other vis-a-vis their respective hobbies. It also features a “back pocket” holding a copy of After Dark—an early performance magazine with a loyal gay readership. The installation coincides with an exhibition of new works by the artist at Koppe Astner gallery in Glasgow.
