This covetable modernist house and studio in Mexico City was designed by Juan O’Gorman for husband and wife artist duo, Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. The building—which is now preserved as a museum—consists of two multicoloured structures, joined by a walkway. Both are defined by their raised rectangular facades, punctuated by geometric detailing, and enlivened by the tall cacti that surround them. Rivera moved into the house in 1934 and remained there until his death in 1957, while Kahlo split her time between there and her own home, Casa Azul.
