Who is Fruit Assembly?

Fruit Assembly is a sun-soaked and rainbow-hued collection of juicy, fruity pictures, sourced from the work of contemporary photographers, set designers, painters and more. With skywards of 65,000 followers on Instagram, it already has quite the fan base, seducing artists and brands alike. “I started Fruit Assembly in March 2017, after realising that a place for fruit lovers was missing online,” says founder Kimberly Ronning. She works in the fashion industry, creating photography and marketing for a large company, but away from that she wanted somewhere to curate and collect her own artistic inspirations: “I figured that if I loved the natural colours of fruit, and using fruit in art, then others must too.”

Why should you follow?

Ronning calls Fruit Assembly a “daily serving of fruit”. This digital five-a-day adds serotonin-boosting, aesthetically pleasing pops of colour to the monotony of our scrolls. “Everyone has a favourite fruit they love to eat or see, and it’s a positive place too,” Kimberly says warmly. “That’s what this account is about: providing a nourishing space to showcase a range of artists, disciplines and fruit from around the world. It’s a place to discover, get inspired and have fun!”

What Instagram doesn’t tell you…

From classical still lifes to the world of high fashion, fruit has been an inspiration across genres for centuries. Ronning incorporates them into many of her projects and photoshoots, and loves collaborating with other artists who do the same. The images on Fruit Assembly’s feed are a mix of Ronning’s work and that of other creators, producing one big fruit bowl of creativity. It is not lost on her that this project would translate well to the page, either. “Instagram is currently the only place to find me, but in the next six months I’d like to work on putting together a series of zines, to publish over the next year. Stay tuned!” she says.
