Wednesday wallowing… Chinese artist and photographer Liu Di uses his practice to challenge the “conflicting relationship between nature and human society”. His Animal Regulation series features a number of giant animals and humans superimposed onto various urban landscapes to surreal, sci-fi-esque effect. His focus on abnormal growth—represented quite literally in Animal Regulation with a cartoonish sense of satire—explores the phenomenon as “an inevitable byproduct of hyper-fast economies fuelled by widespread urbanisation” (China Underground).
