A Monday mindset, encapsulated by the American artist and photographer Lorna Simpson. This work features in Simpson’s current Hauser & Wirth online exhibition, Give Me Some Moments: a new series of collages centred around the human form and ideas of fragmentation. “The notion of fragmentation, especially of the body, is prevalent in our culture, and it’s reflected in my works,” Simpson explained. “We’re fragmented not only in terms of how society regulates our bodies but in the way we think about ourselves.” In Flames, she replaces the coiffed wigs of two female models, featured in vintage advertisements, with depictions of burning buildings.
