Louise Bourgeois, Untitled, 1997

“Drawings are thought feathers, they are ideas that I seize in mid-flight and put down on paper.” So said Louise Bourgeois, creator of this cheekily grinning face. This work is one of several on display in Hauser & Wirth’s new online exhibition of the French-American artist’s drawings, made between 1947 and 2007. Bourgeois drew everyday, the exhibition text tells us, deeming the pastime “a necessary tool to record and exorcise her memories and emotions”.
