While fine early Spring weather might be instagrammable, it’s alarming to see temperatures across Europe rising so unseasonably high. Leah Wood has curated a fundraising exhibition of forty-six environmental works in a space overlooking the Thames in London—which experts say could rise causing severe floods across the capital in the coming years. The Now Exhibition emphasizes the urgency of the climate issue using Wood’s own celebrity and network as well art by the likes of Dame Vivienne Westwood to bring attention. “Art is a powerful motivator of changes,” Wood says. Among the engaging and informative works on show is Louise McCurdy’s shopping trolley of ruinous plastic waste, pushed out into a perfect seascape: more than eight million tonnes of plastic is dumped into our oceans every year. McCurdy created a series of shots in collaboration with photographer Alex Bamford to visualize the plastic waste pandemic and its effects on the environment in the UK.
