Martin Parr is best-known for his acerbic take on British society, but his photographs are laced with tenderness as well as his signature biting humour. He is a leading documentarian of ways of life on this small island, roving from high society to working men’s clubs. A new exhibition of his work is due to open next week at the newly redeveloped Aberdeen Art Gallery. Titled Think of Scotland and Aberdeen at Leisure, the two bodies of work explore the local area, turning his lens on Scottish idiosyncrasies, customs and ordinary, everyday life. The gallery reopens with Parr’s exhibition on 2 November.
