Matthew Morrocco, Red Rock by Vermillion Cliffs, 2019

A suitably stealthy start to the week à la American artist Matthew Morrocco and his project Coloured to Suit—”an exploration of anonymity, social media and the role of the photograph in contemporary society”, as Jessica Klingelfuss writes for Elephant. The series depicts “an anonymous morphsuit-clad individual [performing] in solitude, at once alone, yet entirely exposed and laid bare” against awe-inspiring natural backdrops. “I wanted to draw a connection between exploitation of the natural world and exploitation of users on social media,” the Los Angeles-based artist told Klingelfuss. “Privacy, like nature, must be protected.” Read the interview in full here.
