Artists Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, the duo behind Toiletpaper magazine, are among twelve creatives who have collaborated on a bonkers “opera music video” for singer Anthony Roth Costanzo. The video is being used as part of Costanzo’s new installation-based performance, which also incorporates live painting and dance, and is about as weird as you might expect. Cattelan and Ferrari’s video for Vivi Tiranno by Handel, vacillates between creepy dentures, a woman with a chicken under her skirt, hotdog hair rollers, gloopy blue discharge, a frog playing drums… and so much more. It’s the stuff your most surreal dreams are made of—a Jodorowsky-esque audio-visual feast for the gif generation.
