Today is International Friendship Day, a time for celebrating friendship that dates back to Paraguay in the 1950s (the UN officially adopted it in 2011). In the age of social media we now have more international “friends” than ever before. This image of friends Georgina and Campbell was shot last year by Mayan Toledano. It dovetails the many reasons friendship is important: connection, laughter, serenity, union and comfort. “Friends are chosen family and sometimes your lovers, your muses, the people that make you laugh, you can’t live without it,” Toledano says.
