Olga Sanina and Marcelo Dante, House of Book, 2010

This calming interior is the work of Portuguese architects Olga Sanina and Marcelo Dantas, who launched a joint architecture studio in 2003 while they were both students, to pursue a more experimental approach to design. Their aim was to push the boundaries “between architecture and other art forms, such as sculpture, photography, installations and street art”, to quote LaMIPA. And they did so with aplomb, winning an international competition to the design the Pavilion of the Ayuntamento de Madrid with this undulating, volumetric space, which evokes the sensation of inhabiting a book.
