Pedro Friedeberg, Galeria Casa Diana, San Miguel de Allende, 1988

Pedro Friedeberg is somewhat of a polymath. One of just two Mexican artists recognised by André Breton as being part of the Surrealist movement, he was also responsible for crafting that celebrated icon of design the Hand Chair (seen here). This excellent ensemble of furnishings can be found at Galeria Casa Diana, located in the city of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico’s central highlands. The gallery space itself was designed by Friedeberg, whose bespoke pieces adorn the interior alongside artworks by the likes of Carmen Gutierrez, Diana Friedeberg, Pahuamba, and more.
