A 21st-century take on Bauhaus, courtesy of Beijing-based architecture studio Penda and its gleefully geometric design for a block of residential flats in Tel Aviv. The building’s plant-dotted facade is made up of modular arches, inspired by the Israeli city’s myriad of Bauhaus architecture and the German art school’s fondness for alternating curves and straight lines. The block’s jutting balconies don’t just make for harmonious viewing, however—they also offer inhabitants the perfect balance of privacy and openness, providing a seamless shift from sunbathing to secluded dinner.
